Interpreting Services

According to the Oxford English Dictionary interpreting is “to translate orally the words of a person speaking a different language”.  Our definition of interpreting at Accent Consultants stretches beyond a simple oral translation.  We ensure that an accurate and immediate meaning is conveyed, so that we always deliver a high quality interpreting service.

Interpreting is a highly specialised skill, and therefore only the most proficient native interpreters in the industry are employed by Accent Consultants.  Our professional interpreters are degree qualified with at least five years professional interpreting experience and are fluent in both the language they are interpreting from and the language they are transmitting to you.  They also possess the knowledge required to be able to speak with both authority and accuracy in their specialist fields.  As our professional native interpreters are often asked to deal with sensitive information, confidentiality is always a priority.

We can offer an interpreting service in all languages, European and non-European.  Some of the languages we offer interpreting services in include -amongst others- Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish.

Some of the business situations where you might need an interpreter are, for instance: sales negotiations, product training sessions, seminars, factory / company visits, social visits, exhibitions, legal matters…  A pre-briefing is offered before any interpreting assignment.

So that we can give you the best support possible during the planning of your event, please provide us with the following information:

  • Date, time and topic of the event
  • Expected length and structure of the event (times, breaks, etc.)
  • Details of the event location and room layout
  • Conference languages and number of participants
  • Type of interpretation required
  • Technical equipment for the event, which we will happily provide for you.

To ensure that our specialized native interpreters can offer you the best possible service, it is important that they obtain information in advance about the topic to be interpreted.  For example, the following supporting materials are helpful:

  • Event documents, such as the texts or slides for lectures, speeches or talks
  • A list of the technical terms expected to be used
  • Translations, glossaries, and parallel texts on the topic
  • The addresses of relevant websites to help with topic preparation
  • Further materials that you think will be helpful for preparation.

To ensure the highest quality professional interpreting, please provide all the relevant supporting materials well in advance.

Clients who call on our services in Cambridge are either looking to expand their business abroad and have visitors over for that purpose, or simply want to communicate in the language of their clients when they visit in order to make them feel at ease - even if they speak some English themselves.  Whatever the case and whatever the type of professional interpreting services needed, we have a professional native interpreter to match the needs of your business and your specific requirements. 

We don’t only offer interpreting in Cambridge and its surrounding areas; we can organize it all over the UK, and even abroad when required.  Some of the locations where we have a big presence are St Neots, Peterborough, Stevenage, London, Watford, Birmingham, Newcastle and Bristol to name a few.

All assignments will be quoted for individually depending on the dates and hours required.  Interpreting assignments are normally charged for as half a day, or full day fees.  If the professional interpreter is only required for a short period of time, this can then be charged by the hour.  If evening hours or week-end work is required, this can be arranged at an agreed overtime rate.
